What are Nepenthes?
  • Nepenthes are a genus of carnivorous plants in the monotypic family Nepenthaceae that comprises roughly 120 species.
  • Popularly known as Tropical Pitcher Plants or Monkey Cups.
  • They are vine forming plants of the Old World tropics, ranging from South China, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines;
  • The greatest diversity occurs on Borneo and Sumatra with many endemic species.

N.adnata occurs in low altitude forests from 600m to 1100m, it is endemic to West Sumatra and Indonesia.
